TJ Herrick

A seasoned singer, songwriter, and saxophone player.

Herrick has played on and recorded songs with a number of notable musicians and is a former member of the house band The Music City Connection for the Huckabee Show in Hendersonville, TN.

In addition to his performing career, Herrick also co-owned Nashville Band Room Repair with his wife, Nancy. He completed his band instrument repair training at Western Iowa Tech under the instruction of Rod Siljenberg in 1998 and is Nashville’s only technician certified to install and repair StraubingerTM Pads.

In 2019 they closed the shop allowing TJ more flexibly with his professional career. Having worked at Nashville Band Room Repair for 13 years, he developed a loyal professional player customer base. TJ recognized the need for a specialized technician in the Nashville area and made the decision to open an appointment only business focusing primarily on woodwind, brass and orchestral strings to service those clients.

T.J. Herrick was born in Couer d’Alene, Idaho, grew up in Ottumwa, Iowa and currently resides in the Nashville, Tennessee area. Herrick comes from a musical family and at an early age began singing with his father, who was a singer for Jimmy Swaggart before beginning his solo career. TJ learned clarinet (the first instrument of many he would take up in later years) at the age of 11. He switched to the saxophone at the age of 15, developing his own signature style incorporating the influences of greats such as Warren Hill, Boney James, Kenny G, and Kirk Whalum. Vocally, TJ cited James Ingram, Michael MacDonald and James Taylor as his influences. A talented and versatile musician, in addition to saxophone and clarinet Herrick also plays and occasionally performs mandolin, bass guitar, guitar, and flute.
